Appointed 7/30/2024
On July 30, 2024, Senator Cross Makani Crabbe was appointed to the Hawai’i State Senate by Governor Josh Green. His appointment was spurred by the retirement of Former Senator Maile Shimabukuro in May 2024.

Senator Crabbe was born and raised in Makaha on the island of O’ahu, with family roots spanning across the Wai’anae Coast. He attended Kamehameha Pre-School St. John’s Campus, Ma’ili Elementary, Ma’ili Bible, Kamehameha Schools, Seattle Pacific University, Kapi’olani Community College, and Hawai’i Pacific University.

He received two Bachelor of Arts degrees in Social Justice/Cultural Studies and Life Sciences from SPU, his Community Health Worker Certificate from KCC, and his Master of Public Administration from HPU.

Senator Crabbe comes from a long family line of proud Kamehameha Warriors and Wai’anae Seariders. He is the son of Lucius and Michelle Crabbe of Wai’anae, who are both alumni of Wai’anae High School Class of 1988.

Senator Crabbe’s passion has been based on non-profit work and public service. He has worked in multiple non-profits along the Wai’anae Coast including INPEACE, Wai’anae Coast Comprehensive Health Center, and Kealahou West O’ahu. He has also worked in all levels of government most notably under the offices of Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard, Mayor Rick Blangiardi, and Representative Cedric Gates. He has also been involved in his community, serving on the Wai’anae Coast Neighborhood Board, volunteering with the Wai’anae Hawaiian Civic Club, and an active member of the Royal Order of Kamehameha Kapuaiwa Chapter.
