HONORING THE MEMORY OF CHRISTINE SNYDER AND EXTENDING HEARTFELT SYMPATHY AND CONDOLENCES TO HER FAMILY.
WHEREAS, on September 11, 2001, Hawaii, along with the rest of the nation, watched in horror as terrorism struck at the heart of the United States, directly affecting our fellow citizens in Washington, D.C., New York, and Pennsylvania; and
WHEREAS, these evil and cowardly acts of terror resulted in the loss of thousands of innocent lives at the World Trade Center, the Pentagon, and in the countryside of Pennsylvania; and
WHEREAS, the people killed in these acts were ordinary citizens going about their daily activities in their offices, working on aircraft in the skies above, or traveling across our country; and
WHEREAS, the loss of life due to these horrendous acts of cowardice not only affected the loved ones of those killed, but also millions of other Americans in a myriad of ways; and
WHEREAS, Hawaii, directly affected by the loss of five of its own people, shared in the grief and sorrow felt throughout the nation; and
WHEREAS, Christine Snyder, a certified arborist from Kailua, worked tirelessly to improve the natural beauty and environment of Hawaii, an effort visible in the many trees she helped plant around these islands; and
WHEREAS, this dedicated landscape and planting project manager for the Outdoor Circle was highly respected by her peers and others in Hawaii's circle of tree professionals for her hard work, dedication, commitment, knowledge and respect for the environment, and strong advocacy for superior city and park planning; and
WHEREAS, Christine will be deeply and forever missed by her friends, family, and Hawaii's beautiful, yet fragile, environment; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the Twenty-first Legislature of the State of Hawaii, Third Special Session of 2001, the House of Representatives concurring, that this body honors the memory of Christine Snyder and extends its heartfelt sympathy and condolences to her family.
