HOUSE CONCURRENT

RESOLUTION

 

honoring the memory of Maile hale and extending heartfelt sympathy and condolences to her family.

 

 

WHEREAS, on September 11, 2001, Hawaii, along with the rest of the nation, watched in horror as terrorism struck at the heart of the United States, directly affecting our fellow citizens in Washington, D.C., New York, and Pennsylvania; and

WHEREAS, these evil and cowardly acts of terror resulted in the loss of thousands of innocent lives at the World Trade Center, the Pentagon, and in the countryside of Pennsylvania; and

WHEREAS, the people killed in these acts were ordinary citizens going about their daily activities in their offices, working on aircraft in the skies above, or traveling across our country; and

WHEREAS, the loss of life due to these horrendous acts of cowardice not only affected the loved ones of those killed, but also millions of other Americans in a myriad of ways; and

WHEREAS, Hawaii, directly affected by the loss of five of its own people, shared in the grief and sorrow felt throughout the nation; and

WHEREAS, Maile Hale, vice president of a financial company in Boston and Hawaii Kai resident, was noted by co-workers, family, and friends for being energetic, conscientious, and intelligent; and

WHEREAS, this graduate of Kaiser High School, class valedictorian, National Honor Society member, soccer player, math team member, and Amnesty International member, has been described as a kind and gentle soul who would lend a hand to anyone who needed assistance; and

WHEREAS, Maile considered her family to be the most important thing in her life, truly loved them, and wanted only to one day become a mother and raise a family of her own; and

WHEREAS, Maile will be deeply and forever missed by her family, friends, and colleagues; now, therefore,

BE IT RESOLVED by the House of Representatives of the Twenty-first Legislature of the State of Hawaii, Third Special Session of 2001, the Senate concurring, that this body honors the memory of Maile Hale and extends its heartfelt sympathy and condolences to her family.
