RELATING TO STATE BUILDINGS.

Requires certain state buildings intended for use as emergency shelters and constructed on or after July 1, 2027, be designed to withstand Category 5 hurricanes.

RELATING TO A DEPARTMENT OF WATER SAFETY AND DROWNING PREVENTION.

Establishes the Department of Water Safety and Drowning Prevention.  Establishes the position of Director of Water Safety and Drowning Prevention.  Establishes the position of Deputy Director of Water Safety and Drowning Prevention.  Appropriates funds.

      Status & Testimony

RELATING TO THE STATE BUILDING CODE COUNCIL.

Makes both the representative of the Building Industry Association of Hawaii and the representative of the General Contractors Association of Hawaii permanent standing members of the State Building Code Council, instead of members who alternate terms every 4 years.
