Your Committee on Judiciary & Hawaiian Affairs, to which was referred S.B. No. 3118, S.D. 1, H.D. 2, entitled:

"A BILL FOR AN ACT RELATING TO THE INTERSTATE COMPACT ON EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITY FOR MILITARY CHILDREN,"

begs leave to report as follows:

The purpose of this measure is to update references to the United States Code in the Interstate Compact on Educational Opportunity for Military Children.

Your Committee received testimony in support of this measure from the Department of Education and Military and Community Relations Office of the Department of Business, Economic Development, and Tourism.

Your Committee finds that as the effectiveness of the Interstate Compact on Educational Opportunity for Military Children relies on uniformity across all jurisdictions, this measure makes needed updates to certain outdated references to the United States Code.

As affirmed by the record of votes of the members of your Committee on Judiciary & Hawaiian Affairs that is attached to this report, your Committee is in accord with the intent and purpose of S.B. No. 3118, S.D. 1, H.D. 2, and recommends that it pass Third Reading.
