     Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred S.B. No. 2969, S.D. 1, H.D. 1, entitled:

 

"A BILL FOR AN ACT RELATING TO THE MAUI WILDFIRE EXPOSURE STUDY AND MAUI HEALTH REGISTRY,"

 

begs leave to report as follows:

 

     The purpose of this measure is to appropriate funds for the University of Hawaii, in collaboration with community partners, to expand and sustain the Maui Wildfire Exposure Study and Maui Health Registry, including follow-up and expanded services for children, first responders, kupuna, and medically vulnerable residents.

 

     Your Committee received testimony in support of this measure from the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa; Office of Hawaiian Affairs; State Health Planning and Development Agency; Office of Wellness and Resilience; Office of the Mayor of the County of Maui; two members of the Maui County Council; Hawaiʻi Public Health Association; Hawaii Climate Change and Health Working Group; Hawaiʻi Community Health; Roots Reborn; ʻAhahui o nā Kauka; American Lung Association in Hawaiʻi; America Cancer Society Cancer Action Network; Hawaii Medical Association; Kaiser Permanente Hawaiʻi; Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Hawaiʻi; Hawaiʻi Psychological Association; Maui Healing; Aloha Independent Living Hawaii; and numerous individuals.

 

     As affirmed by the record of votes of the members of your Committee on Finance that is attached to this report, your Committee is in accord with the intent and purpose of S.B. No. 2969, S.D. 1, H.D. 1, and recommends that it pass Third Reading.
