Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred S.B. No. 2798, S.D. 1, H.D. 1, entitled:
"A BILL FOR AN ACT RELATING TO LAW ENFORCEMENT,"
begs leave to report as follows:
The purpose of this measure is to:
(1) Make permanent the Agricultural Enforcement Pilot Program established pursuant to Act 235, Session Laws of Hawaii 2025; and
(2) Rename the program as the Agricultural Enforcement Program and expand the program statewide.
Your Committee received testimony in support of this measure from the Department of Law Enforcement; Department of Agriculture and Biosecurity; Office of the Mayor of the County of Maui; Office of the Prosecuting Attorney of the County of Hawaiʻi; Department of the Prosecuting Attorney of the County of Maui; Hawaiʻi Farm Bureau; Hawaiʻi Farmers Union; Hawaiʻi Cattlemen's Council, Inc.; Hawaiʻi Food+ Policy; and one individual.
As affirmed by the record of votes of the members of your Committee on Finance that is attached to this report, your Committee is in accord with the intent and purpose of S.B. No. 2798, S.D. 1, H.D. 1, and recommends that it pass Third Reading.
