     Your Committee on Housing, to which was referred H.R. No. 172 entitled:

 

"HOUSE RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH TO ESTABLISH A WORKING GROUP TO STUDY ACCESSIBILITY BARRIERS FOR MULTI-FAMILY HOUSING NOT COVERED BY THE FEDERAL FAIR HOUSING ACT AND GOVERNED BY CONDOMINIUM ASSOCIATIONS AND PLANNED COMMUNITY ASSOCIATIONS,"

 

begs leave to report as follows:

 

     The purpose of this measure is to request the Department of Health to establish a working group to study accessibility barriers in certain multi-family housing and to examine potential solutions, including policy changes and financial assistance mechanisms.

 

     Your Committee received testimony on this measure from the Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs and Independent Living Hawaii.

 

     As affirmed by the record of votes of the members of your Committee on Housing that is attached to this report, your Committee concurs with the intent and purpose of H.R. No. 172 and recommends that it be referred to your Committee on Finance.
