COM. REP. NO. 1858-26
Honolulu, Hawaii
, 2026
RE: H.C.R. No. 165
Honorable Nadine K. Nakamura
Speaker, House of Representatives
Thirty-Third State Legislature
Regular Session of 2026
State of Hawaii
Madame:
Your Committee on Water & Land, to which was referred H.C.R. No. 165 entitled:
"HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE CITY AND COUNTY OF HONOLULU DEPARTMENT OF PARKS AND RECREATION TO INSTALL PERMANENT PICKLEBALL NETS AND COURT LIGHTING AT THE TENNIS COURTS AT KAMILOʻIKI COMMUNITY PARK,"
begs leave to report as follows:
The purpose of this measure is to request the City and County of Honolulu Department of Parks and Recreation to install permanent pickleball nets and court lighting at the tennis courts located at Kamiloiki Community Park.
Your Committee finds that Kamiloiki Community Park in Hawaii Kai serves as an important recreational gathering place for residents of East Honolulu and provides facilities for tennis, pickleball, and other community activities. Your Committee further finds that supporting greater recreational opportunities at existing park facilities can help promote physical health, strengthen community connections, and ensure that public parks continue to serve residents of all ages and that installing permanent pickleball nets and court lighting would help meet the growing demand for pickleball facilities in East Honolulu.
As affirmed by the record of votes of the members of your Committee on Water & Land that is attached to this report, your Committee concurs with the intent and purpose of H.C.R. No. 165 and recommends its adoption.
Respectfully submitted on behalf of the members of the Committee on Water & Land,
