     Your Committee on Consumer Protection & Commerce, to which was referred H.C.R. No. 125, H.D. 1, entitled:

 

"HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION TO COORDINATE WITH UTILITY PROVIDERS OPERATING WITHIN STATE HIGHWAY RIGHTS-OF-WAY TO DEVELOP A COMPREHENSIVE STATEWIDE PLAN AND SCHEDULE TO ADDRESS DERELICT OR AGING UTILITY POLES AND LINES ALONG FARRINGTON HIGHWAY AND OTHER HIGH-RISK CORRIDORS,"

 

begs leave to report as follows:

 

     The purpose of this measure is to request the Department of Transportation to coordinate with utility providers operating within state highway rights-of-way to develop a comprehensive statewide plan and schedule to address derelict or aging utility poles and lines along Farrington Highway and other high-risk corridors.

 

     Your Committee received testimony in support of this measure from Hawaiian Electric and one individual. Your Committee received comments on this measure from the Department of Transportation, Hawaiian Telcom, and Charter Communications.

 

     As affirmed by the record of votes of the members of your Committee on Consumer Protection & Commerce that is attached to this report, your Committee concurs with the intent and purpose of H.C.R. No. 125, H.D. 1, and recommends its adoption.
