Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred H.B. No. 2294, H.D. 2, entitled:

"A BILL FOR AN ACT RELATING TO PUBLIC SCHOOL LAND TRANSFER,"

begs leave to report as follows:

The purpose of this measure is to amend Act 307, Session Laws of Hawaii 2022, which directed the conveyance of the fee simple interest in specified parcels owned by various public entities to the Department of Education, to:

(1) Revise tax map key numbers;

(2) Revise the conveyance process by which identified properties are to be conveyed; and

(3) Exempt lands beneath public libraries from being conveyed.

Your Committee received testimony in support of this measure from the Hawaii State Public Library System. Your Committee received comments on this measure from the Department of Education.

As affirmed by the record of votes of the members of your Committee on Finance that is attached to this report, your Committee is in accord with the intent and purpose of H.B. No. 2294, H.D. 2, and recommends that it pass Third Reading.
