Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred H.B. No. 2168, H.D. 2, entitled:

"A BILL FOR AN ACT RELATING TO THE EDUCATION OF STUDENTS EXPERIENCING HOMELESSNESS,"

begs leave to report as follows:

The purpose of this measure is to require the Department of Education to:

(1) Establish a program to support students experiencing homelessness; and

(2) Designate a state coordinator position and state navigator positions to implement the program.

Your Committee received testimony in support of this measure from the Department of Education; Hawaiʻi State Youth Commission; Opportunity for Youth Action Hawaiʻi; and three individuals.

As affirmed by the record of votes of the members of your Committee on Finance that is attached to this report, your Committee is in accord with the intent and purpose of H.B. No. 2168, H.D. 2, and recommends that it pass Third Reading.
