"A BILL FOR AN ACT RELATING TO ENVIRONMENTAL ASSESSMENTS,"

The purpose of this measure is to repeal the environmental assessment requirement for proposed actions within the Waikiki Special District.

Your Committee received testimony in support of this measure from the Office of Planning and Sustainable Development; Waikīkī Beach Special Improvement District Association; Hawaiʻi YIMBY; and Land Use Research Foundation of Hawaii. Your Committee received testimony in opposition to this measure from UNITE HERE Local 5; Hawaii's Thousand Friends; and three individuals. Your Committee received comments on this measure from the Hawaiʻi Association of REALTORS.

As affirmed by the record of votes of the members of your Committee on Finance that is attached to this report, your Committee is in accord with the intent and purpose of H.B. No. 1650, H.D. 1, and recommends that it pass Third Reading.
