STAND. COM. REP. NO. 3917

Honolulu, Hawaii

RE:    GOV. MSG. NO. 780

Honorable Ronald D. Kouchi

President of the Senate

Thirty-Third State Legislature

Regular Session of 2026

State of Hawaii

Sir:

Your Committee on Health and Human Services, to which was referred Governor's Message No. 780, submitting for study and consideration the nomination of:

Radiologic Technology Board

G.M. No. 780

KRYSS KOJIMA

for a term to expire 06-30-2030,

begs leave to report as follows:

Your Committee reviewed the personal history, resume, and statement submitted by Kryss Kojima for service on the Radiologic Technology Board.

Your Committee received testimony in support of the nomination for the appointment of Kryss Kojima from the Department of Health and one individual.

Upon review of the testimony, your Committee finds that Dr. Kojima's experience, background, and commitment to public service qualify him for appointment to the Radiologic Technology Board as a member with at least five years of experience who is certified in the practice of radiography and engaged in the hospital practice of radiography.  During the course of Dr. Kojima's career, he has gained broad experience and knowledge about radiology.  Your Committee notes that Dr. Kojima is a physician licensed to practice medicine in the State, certified in diagnostic radiology by the American Board of Radiology.  Dr. Kojima has worked for more than two decades as a Radiologist at Straub Benioff Medical Center, where he has been serving as the Chief of the Straub Radiology Department since 2007 and Chief of Hawaii Pacific Health Radiology since 2021.  As a Chief Radiologist, Dr. Kojima has standardized imaging protocols, improved radiologist reporting practices, and implemented efficient workflows for effective communication of results at Straub Benioff Medical Center and Hawaii Pacific Health.  At the same time, Dr. Kojima serves as a clinical educator at the University of Hawaii John A. Burns School of Medicine, sharing his knowledge with the next generation of clinicians and as the Medical Director at InVision LLC.  Your Committee further notes that Dr. Kojima has served as an interim member of the Radiologic Technology Board since March 2026 and has a thorough understanding of the roles and responsibilities of its members.  Your Committee therefore recommends that Kryss Kojima be appointed to the Radiologic Technology Board based on his knowledge, experience, and commitment to public service.

As affirmed by the record of votes of the members of your Committee on Health and Human Services that is attached to this report, your Committee, after full consideration of the background, experience, and qualifications of the nominee, has found the nominee to be qualified for the position to which nominated and recommends that the Senate advise and consent to the nomination.

Respectfully submitted on behalf of the members of the Committee on Health and Human Services,
