STAND. COM. REP. NO. 3932

Honolulu, Hawaii

RE:     GOV. MSG. NO. 744

Honorable Ronald D. Kouchi

President of the Senate

Thirty-Third State Legislature

Regular Session of 2026

State of Hawaii

Sir:

Your Committee on Education, to which was referred Governor's Message No. 744, submitting for study and consideration the nomination of:

Hawai'i Commission for National and Community Service

G.M. No. 744

ANNE MARIE MATSUZAKI

for a term to expire 06-30-2027,

begs leave to report as follows:

Your Committee reviewed the personal history, resume, and statement submitted by Anne Marie Matsuzaki for service on the Hawaii Commission for National and Community Service.

Your Committee did not receive any testimony on the nomination for the reappointment of Anne Marie Matsuzaki.

Upon review of the testimony, your Committee finds that Ms. Matsuzaki's background and dedication to serving the public qualify her to be reappointed to the Hawaii Commission for National and Community Service.  Your Committee notes that Ms. Matsuzaki has been in the education sector for over thirty years and currently works as the Acting Director at Kamehameha Schools for their ʻAina Ulu Community Partnership Program.  Prior to her current role, Ms. Matsuzaki held additional roles at Kamehameha Schools, including as the ʻAina Ulu Program Manager and Land Legacy Education Specialist.  Ms. Matsuzaki is an active member in her community where she has served as a Judge for Future Farmers of America since 2003 and as a member of the Hawaii Farm-to-School and School Garden Network since 2013.  Your Committee further notes that Ms. Matsuzaki has served on the Hawaii Commission for National and Community Service since 2021 and currently serves as the Commission's Secretary.  Your Committee finds that Ms. Matsuzaki's experience and knowledge will continue to be assets to the Hawaii Commission for National and Community Service.  Your Committee therefore recommends that Anne Marie Matsuzaki be reappointed to the Hawaii Commission for National and Community Service based on her experience, knowledge, and commitment to public service.

As affirmed by the record of votes of the members of your Committee on Education that is attached to this report, your Committee, after full consideration of the background, experience, and qualifications of the nominee, has found the nominee to be qualified for the position to which nominated and recommends that the Senate advise and consent to the nomination.

Respectfully submitted on behalf of the members of the Committee on Education,
