Honorable Ronald D. Kouchi

|
G.M. No. 627 |
GINA ANONUEVO for a term to expire 06-30-2026; and |
|
G.M. No. 726 |
GINA ANONUEVO for a term to expire 06-30-2030, |
begs leave to report as follows:
Your Committee reviewed the personal history, resume, and statement submitted by Gina Anonuevo for service on the Hawaii Workforce Development Council.
Your Committee received testimony in support of the nominations for the appointment and reappointment of Gina Anonuevo from the Department of Labor and Industrial Relations and twenty‑one individuals.
Upon review of the testimony, your Committee finds that Ms. Anonuevo's professional experience, background, and desire to serve her community qualify her for appointment and reappointment to the Hawaii Workforce Development Council as a private sector member. Your Committee notes that Ms. Anonuevo has over thirty years of experience in both public and private financial sectors and has been serving as an Executive Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer at First Hawaiian Bank since December 2023, where she oversees the Bank's human resources, technology, digital banking, and data and analytics operations, requiring a comprehensive understanding of workforce planning from recruitment and leadership development to digital upskilling and organizational transformation. Your Committee further notes that Ms. Anonuevo has extensive leadership experience in various fields, including audit, compliance, human resources, and technology, gained at various financial institutions and the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, and has led First Hawaiian Bank's digital transformation efforts, during which the Bank simultaneously modernized technology and reskilled its workforce, which closely parallels the broader workforce challenges currently facing the State. Your Committee also notes that Ms. Anonuevo is an active member of her community, including serving on the boards of the First Hawaiian Bank Foundation and Hawaiian Humane Society. Your Committee further finds that Ms. Anonuevo has been serving as an interim member of the Hawaii Workforce Development Council since 2025, and has a thorough understanding of the roles and responsibilities of its members. Your Committee therefore recommends that Gina Anonuevo be appointed and reappointed to the Hawaii Workforce Development Council based on her background, knowledge, and desire to contribute to the community.
Respectfully submitted on behalf of the members of the Committee on Labor and Technology,
|
