begs leave to report as follows:
Your Committee reviewed the personal histories, resumes, and statements submitted by Jean Paul Velasquez and Corrine Maul De Soto for service on the Board of Naturopathic Medicine.
JEAN PAUL
VELASQUEZ
Your Committee received testimony in support of the nomination for the appointment of Jean Paul Velasquez from the Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs.
Upon review of the testimony, your Committee finds that Mr. Velasquez's background and dedication to serving the public qualify him to be appointed to the Board of Naturopathic Medicine as a public member. Your Committee notes that Mr. Velasquez has more than twenty years of experience in biopharmaceutical operations. Mr. Velasquez is currently Vice President of Global Supply Chain and Operations at Alumis Inc., where he previously served as Executive Director and designed and executed the organization's enterprise operating strategy for global clinical and commercial supply. Previously, Mr. Velasquez held senior leadership roles at a number of life sciences companies, where he built operating infrastructure, supported clinical development, prepared for commercialization, and maintained good manufacturing practice compliance and audit readiness. Mr. Velasquez has also been an active contributor to corporate governance and risk committees throughout his career. Your Committee finds that Mr. Velasquez has a thorough understanding of the role and responsibilities of board members and his position as a public member will enhance the effectiveness of the Board of Naturopathic Medicine. Your Committee therefore recommends that Jean Paul Velasquez be appointed to the Board of Naturopathic Medicine based on his knowledge, background, and dedication to public service.
CORRINE MAUL DE
SOTO
Your Committee received testimony in support of the nomination for the reappointment of Corrine Maul De Soto from the Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs, Hawaii Society of Naturopathic Physicians, Klein Natural Health and Wellness Center, and one individual.
Upon review of the testimony, your Committee finds that Dr. De Soto's experience, knowledge, and proven leadership on the Board of Naturopathic Medicine qualify her for reappointment to the Board as a naturopathic physician member. Your Committee notes that Dr. De Soto is a licensed naturopathic physician and is the Owner, Medical Director, Residency Director, and Physician at the Koa Clinic of Integrative Healing in Kailua-Kona, where she practices integrative naturopathic medicine and offers collaborative health care services. Dr. De Soto is also the Executive Director, Medical Director, and Founder of Koa Community Health Foundation, where she organizes, writes, and coordinates grants for community health projects. Your Committee further notes that Dr. De Soto has served on the Board of Naturopathic Medicine since 2022 and currently serves as the Board's Vice Chair. Your Committee finds that Dr. De Soto's governance experience and clinical knowledge will continue to be assets to the Board of Naturopathic Medicine. Your Committee therefore recommends that Corrine Maul De Soto be reappointed to the Board of Naturopathic Medicine based on her experience, knowledge, and commitment to public service.
Respectfully submitted on behalf of the members of the Committee on Commerce and Consumer Protection,
