RE: GOV. MSG. NO. 587
Honorable Ronald D. Kouchi
President of the Senate

Regular Session of 2026
State of Hawaii
Sir:
Your Committee on Commerce and Consumer Protection, to which was referred Governor's Message No. 587, submitting for study and consideration the nomination of:
Hawaii Medical Board
|
G.M. No. 587 |
ROBERT WOTRING for a term to expire 06-30-2029, |
begs leave to report as follows:
Your Committee reviewed the personal history, resume, and statement submitted by Robert Wotring for service on the Hawaii Medical Board.
Your Committee received testimony in support of the nomination for the appointment of Robert Wotring from the Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs and two individuals.
Upon review of the testimony, your Committee finds that Dr. Wotring's background in clinical practice and dedication to serving the public qualify him to be appointed to the Hawaii Medical Board as a physician member representing the County of Kauai. Your Committee notes that since 1993, Dr. Wotring has been a board certified general pediatrician at Kauai Medical Clinic and is currently Chief of the Medical Staff at Wilcox Medical Center. Dr. Wotring holds numerous board positions with various health care organizations, including as Board Chair and member of Kauai Medical Clinic Board of Directors and Board Chair and member of Malama Pono Health Services Board of Directors. Your Committee further notes that Dr. Wotring is a longstanding member of the Christian Medical and Dental Society and the American Academy of Pediatrics. Your Committee finds that Dr. Wotring has a sound understanding of the role and responsibilities of board members and his extensive experience in the medical profession will enable him to contribute to the effectiveness of the Hawaii Medical Board. Your Committee therefore recommends that Robert Wotring be appointed to the Hawaii Medical Board based on his broad clinical and governance experience and dedication to public service.
Respectfully submitted on behalf of the members of the Committee on Commerce and Consumer Protection,
|
