HOUSE RESOLUTION
CONGRATULATING THE FIRST, SECOND, THIRD, AND FOURTH PLACE TEAMS AT THE 2026 HAWAIʻI LIFESMARTS STATE COMPETITION.
WHEREAS, the Hawaiʻi LifeSmarts State Competition tests students on their knowledge of personal finance, consumer rights and responsibilities, health and safety, technology, and the environment and is an excellent opportunity for students to develop inside and outside the classroom; the competition is run by the National Consumers League and sponsored in Hawaiʻi by the Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs with support from the Hawaii Credit Union League along with volunteers and contributors from multiple credit unions; and
WHEREAS, ʻIOLANI SCHOOL'S TEAM ʻIOLANI RAIDERS recently participated in the 2026 Hawaiʻi LifeSmarts State Competition; and
WHEREAS, after dedicating countless hours of time for preparation, ʻIOLANI SCHOOL'S TEAM ʻIOLANI RAIDERS, consisting of captain James Chen, Donovan Kwan, Dominic Nakama, Henry Li, and Inseo Kim, and coached by Kit-U Wong, emerged victorious, securing first place in the Hawaiʻi LifeSmarts State Competition; and
WHEREAS, KALANI HIGH SCHOOL'S TEAM KALANI 7.0 recently participated in the 2026 Hawaiʻi LifeSmarts State Competition; and
WHEREAS, after dedicating countless hours of time for preparation, KALANI HIGH SCHOOL'S TEAM KALANI 7.0, consisting of captain Brandalyn Tran, Michelle Kabasawa, Nicole Du, Zachary Li, and Cristian Matache, and coached by Susan Hori, secured second place in the Hawaiʻi LifeSmarts State Competition; and
WHEREAS, WAIPAHU HIGH SCHOOL'S TEAM WAIPAHU 2 recently participated in the 2026 Hawaiʻi LifeSmarts State Competition; and
WHEREAS, after dedicating countless hours of time for preparation, WAIPAHU HIGH SCHOOL'S TEAM WAIPAHU 2, consisting of captain Jericho Agustin, Kyle Baldovi, Caleb Daguio, Chase Litchfield, and Felix Oca, and coached by Cindy Takara, secured third place in the Hawaiʻi LifeSmarts State Competition; and
WHEREAS, WAIPAHU HIGH SCHOOL'S TEAM WAIPAHU 5 recently participated in the 2026 Hawaiʻi LifeSmarts State Competition; and
WHEREAS, after dedicating countless hours of time for preparation, WAIPAHU HIGH SCHOOL'S TEAM WAIPAHU 5, consisting of captain Angelina Alcantra-Pao, Keisha Lei Arellano, Monica Velasco, Chara Daily, and Sophie Yamamoto, and coached by Cindy Takara, secured fourth place in the Hawaiʻi LifeSmarts State Competition; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the House of Representatives of the Thirty-third Legislature of the State of Hawaiʻi, Regular Session of 2026, that this body hereby congratulates ʻIOLANI SCHOOL'S TEAM ʻIOLANI RAIDERS for placing first, KALANI HIGH SCHOOL'S TEAM KALANI 7.0 for placing second, WAIPAHU HIGH SCHOOL'S TEAM WAIPAHU 2 for placing third, and WAIPAHU HIGH SCHOOL'S TEAM WAIPAHU 5 for placing fourth at the 2026 Hawaiʻi LifeSmarts State Competition and extends to them its warmest aloha and best wishes for continued success in all future endeavors.
