HOUSE RESOLUTION
commending and congratulating the candidates and distinguished finalists for the BOYS & GIRLS CLUB OF HAWAIʻI 2026 youth of the year awards.
WHEREAS, the Boys & Girls Club of
Hawaiʻi, established in 1976 with its first
club on Oʻahu, has grown to ten club locations
statewide that provide a fun, safe, and supportive environment for over fifteen
thousand keiki each year; and
WHEREAS, the Boys & Girls Club of
Hawaiʻi operates drop-in service facilities
that foster a nurturing, non-judgmental, and supervised setting where youth can
be themselves, build meaningful relationships with positive role models, and
develop the values and skills necessary for a successful future; and
WHEREAS, the Youth of the Year honor
represents the highest distinction a Boys & Girls Club member can achieve;
candidates and finalists for this honor are exceptional youth who demonstrate
leadership, academic excellence, a record of service to their communities and others
in need, good moral character, and a commitment to personal growth through Boys
& Girls Clubs of America programming; and
WHEREAS, other renowned youth centers
in Hawaiʻi, including the U.S. Army Garrison
Hawaiʻi Child and Youth Services Bennett
Youth Center and the Joint Base Pearl Harbor–Hickam Teen Center, are home to
finalists for Military Youth of the Year honors; and
WHEREAS, the Boys & Girls Club of
Hawaiʻi has recognized outstanding members
from across the State as Youth of the Year candidates, including Naleiʻa Oliveira,
Katra Rantak, Kiran Fernandez-Iriarte, Kaʻimina Ilaoa,
Amiah Sproat, Oriana Kaʻaloa, Uriah Aranas, Promise Jellings-Faletogo, Jenary
Remigio, Anthany Long-Silva, and Coen Langley; and
WHEREAS, in addition to these exemplary
candidates, the finalists for the Boys & Girls Club of Hawaiʻi 2026 Youth of the Year are Matthew "Messiah" Cargo and Leia Williamson and the finalists for
the 2026 Military Youth of the Year are Dylan
Tibbles and Amauri Spinks;
and
WHEREAS, the selected finalists will
advance to represent Hawaiʻi in regional
and national competitions, serving as proud ambassadors of our State and
exemplifying excellence on a national stage; now, therefore,
BE IT
RESOLVED by the House of Representatives of the
Thirty-third Legislature of the State of Hawaiʻi, Regular
Session of 2026, that this body hereby commends and congratulates the candidates
and distinguished finalists for the Boys & Girls Club of Hawaiʻi 2026
Youth of the Year Awards.
