A BILL FOR AN ACT
relating to the budget.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:
SECTION 1. Chapter 37, Hawaii Revised Statutes, is amended by adding a new section to part IV to be appropriately designated and to read as follows:
"§37- Repair
and maintenance budget. (a) As
part of the budget and supplemental budget pursuant to sections 37-71 and 37-72,
respectively, the governor shall include a recommended budget for deferred
repair and maintenance and capital improvements on existing state-owned
buildings and infrastructure.
(b) Funds
authorized by the legislature for deferred repair and maintenance and capital
improvements on existing state-owned buildings and infrastructure shall be
exempt from sections 37-31 to 37-41."
SECTION 2. New statutory material is underscored.
SECTION 3. This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
