The purpose of this informational briefing by DBEDT, Creative Industries is to discuss vital aspects central to this economic sector and strategies to grow the film and media industries in Hawaiʻi. Information on incentives, specifically the film tax credit, the mechanisms governing their administration will illuminate their role in fostering industry growth and economic vitality.  The briefing delves into the efficiency of the film permitting process, administration, and avenues for streamlining procedures to enhance accessibility and expedite production timelines.  The briefing will also address the requisite infrastructure and facilities essential for sustaining a thriving film sector in Hawaiʻi, identifying key areas for investment and development.  Complementing this infrastructure focus is a dedicated examination of workforce development initiatives aimed at nurturing local talent pools statewide and fostering skills essential for industry sustainability and expansion.  Collectively, these elements underscore the briefing's overarching goal: to catalyze informed decision-making and strategic action in fortifying Hawaii's position as a premier destination for film production.
