      Status & Testimony

RELATING TO DISCRIMINATORY PRACTICES.

Prohibits landlords from discriminating against a potential tenant based on the tenant's credit history, credit score, or creditworthiness.  Expands prohibition on employers from discriminating against an individual in compensation or in the terms, conditions, or privileges of employment because of the individual's credit history or credit report.

RELATING TO ONLINE SAFETY FOR CHILDREN.

Establishes the Hawaii Age-Appropriate Design Code to promote privacy protections for children and ensure that online products, services, or features that are likely to be accessed by children are designed in a manner that recognizes the distinct needs of children at different age ranges.  Establishes a Children's Data Protection Working Group, administratively attached to the Department of the Attorney General, to assess and develop recommendations on the best practices for the implementation of the Hawaii Age-Appropriate Design Code.  Establishes the Consumer Privacy Special Fund.  Establishes penalties.

SB 2572

      Status & Testimony

RELATING TO ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE.

Establishes the Office of Artificial Intelligence Safety and Regulation within the Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs to regulate the development, deployment, and use of artificial intelligence technologies in the State.  Prohibits the deployment of artificial intelligence products in the State unless affirmative proof establishing the product's safety is submitted to the Office.  Makes an appropriation.

RELATING TO PROFESSIONAL LICENSE FEE RENEWALS.

Requires each public employer to pay for the employer's employees' professional license renewal fees.
