RELATING TO PHARMACIES.

Requires pharmacies, other than on-site pharmacies in institutional facilities, to make a pharmacy intern, pharmacy technician, pharmacy employee, or an employee of the retail establishment the pharmacy is located in available to assist a registered pharmacist at all times the pharmacy is open to the public.

Status

RELATING TO ELECTRIC UTILITY LINEMAN.

Beginning 1/1/2027, establishes licensing requirements, including minimum standards and qualifications, for journey worker electric utility linemen and expands the board of electricians and plumbers to include members engaged in electric utility work.  Sunsets the original limited exemption from licensing requirements for qualified electricians that was originally enacted by Act 65, SLH 2013, and extended pursuant to Act 60, SLH 2018.

HB 2742

Status

RELATING TO THE LANDLORD-TENANT CODE.

Establishes an alternative process for the termination of the rental agreement that involves mediation.  Requires the Governor to notify the Chief Justice, Legislature, and Revisor of Statutes when the final wildfire proclamation will expire.  Declares that the appropriation exceeds the state general fund expenditure ceiling for 2024-2025.  Appropriates funds.

Status

RELATING TO CONDOMINIUMS.

Repeals the cutoff date of Act 187, SLH 2013, as amended by Act 196, SLH 2018, that allowed the use of funds in the Condominium Education Trust Fund initially dedicated to support voluntary binding arbitration to be used for other educational purposes.

HB 2286

Status

RELATING TO CONDOMINIUM ASSOCIATIONS.

Requires fees for attorneys retained by a condominium association to be paid from the association's funds or reserves, except in matters involving the collection of delinquent assessments.  Prohibits associations from assessing, demanding, or seeking reimbursement from unit owners for legal fees that are in excess of twenty-five per cent of the original debt.  Requires attorneys retained by an association to confine their communications to the board, except when requesting essential information from unit owners, and refrain from billing unit owners directly.  Requires attorneys retained by an association for debt collection purposes to abide by the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.  Requires certain information to be included in each billing statement sent by the attorneys retained by an association.  Clarifies that costs and expenses incurred by or on behalf of an association for foreclosing on a lien must be promptly paid on demand, as long as thirty days have elapsed since a notice of default and intention to foreclose has been served on a unit owner.

HB 2213

Status

RELATING TO THE CONTRACTOR REPAIR ACT.

Expands the required contents of a notice of claim of construction defect served on a contractor.  Requires the claimant to provide actual evidence of the nature and cause of the construction defect and extent of necessary repairs along with the notice of claim.  Amends the process and timeframe for a claimant to accept a contractor's proposal to inspect and authorize the contractor to proceed with repairs.  Limits the amount a claimant can recover if the claimant unreasonably rejects a contractor's proposal to inspect or an offer to remedy.

Status

RELATING TO CONSUMER PROTECTION.

Caps the primary and secondary ticket seller service charges that may be added on to event ticket prices.  Requires website operators to guarantee refunds in certain circumstances and disclose that the website is not the primary ticket seller.  Prohibits speculative tickets and the usage of bots.

DECISION MAKING TO FOLLOW

 

Persons wishing to offer comments should submit testimony at least 24 hours prior to the hearing.  Testimony received after this time will be stamped late and left to the discretion of the chair to consider.  While every effort will be made to incorporate all testimony received, materials received on the day of the hearing or improperly identified or directed, may not be processed.

 

Testimony submitted will be placed on the legislative website.  This public posting of testimony on the website should be considered when including personal information in your testimony.

 

The chair may institute a per-testifier time limit.

 

Committees meeting in the morning must adjourn prior to the day's Floor Session.  Therefore, due to time constraints, not all testifiers may be provided an opportunity to offer verbal comments.  However, written submissions will be considered by the committee.

 

Please refrain from profanity or uncivil behavior.  Violations may result in ejection from the hearing without the ability to rejoin.

 

For remote testifiers, the House will not be responsible for bad connections on the testifier's end.
