Status

RELATING TO FOOD SUSTAINABILITY.

Requires the Department of Agriculture, in coordination with the Office of Planning and Sustainable Development, to prepare and periodically update the State Agriculture Functional Plan to include other agricultural economic updates, including aquaculture, that expand the State's priority on food by including freshwater and saltwater aquatic organisms as a viable food source.  Requires the Governor to submit an updated plan to the Legislature prior to the Regular Session of 2026.  (SD2)

Status

RELATING TO AGRICULTURAL PARK LEASES.

Allows the Department of Agriculture to extend the agricultural park lease of any lessee who holds a lease with a remaining term of 15 years or less; provided that the land covered by the lease is 25 acres or less and located in a county with a population of less than 500,000.  Effective 7/1/2050.  (SD1)

Status

RELATING TO INVASIVE SPECIES.

Provides that each lease that the Department of Agriculture enters into, renews, or extends after the effective date of this Act shall authorize the DOA to:  (1) Enter the leased premises at any time to survey for, identify, investigate, control, or eradicate invasive pests; (2) Require a lessee to maintain control of any invasive pests on the leased premises, at the lessee's expense; and (3) Terminate the lease if the lessee refuses the DOA entry or is found in violation of any applicable law, rule, or order relating to the control or eradication of invasive pests.  Takes effect 4/14/2112.  (SD2)

Status

RELATING TO FARMERS.

Requires that lessees and purchasers of farm lots and ranch lots use that land for farming and producing food.  Authorizes agricultural cooperatives to apply for farmlands.  Takes effect 7/1/2050.  (SD1)

DECISION MAKING TO FOLLOW

 

Persons wishing to offer comments should submit testimony at least 24 hours prior to the hearing.  Testimony received after this time will be stamped late and left to the discretion of the chair to consider.  While every effort will be made to incorporate all testimony received, materials received on the day of the hearing or improperly identified or directed, may not be processed.

 

Testimony submitted will be placed on the legislative website.  This public posting of testimony on the website should be considered when including personal information in your testimony.

 

The chair may institute a per-testifier time limit.

 

Committees meeting in the morning must adjourn prior to the day's Floor Session.  Therefore, due to time constraints, not all testifiers may be provided an opportunity to offer verbal comments.  However, written submissions will be considered by the committee.

 

Please refrain from profanity or uncivil behavior.  Violations may result in ejection from the hearing without the ability to rejoin.

 

For remote testifiers, the House will not be responsible for bad connections on the testifier's end.
