Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred H.B. No. 2610, H.D. 1, entitled:

"A BILL FOR AN ACT RELATING TO DISASTER RELIEF,"

begs leave to report as follows:

The purpose of this measure is to:

(1) Establish the Disaster Relief Match Special Fund to provide the local match for projects under the Federal Emergency Management Agency's Maui Wildfires Hazard Mitigation Grant Program that implement mitigation measures to prevent and minimize the impacts of natural hazards affecting the State; and

(2) Appropriate funds from the Special Fund as the local match for projects under the Grant Program.

Your Committee received testimony in support of this measure from the Hawaii State Hazard Mitigation Forum and three members of the Maui County Council. Your Committee received comments on this measure from the Department of Budget and Finance and Hawaiʻi Emergency Management Agency.

As affirmed by the record of votes of the members of your Committee on Finance that is attached to this report, your Committee is in accord with the intent and purpose of H.B. No. 2610, H.D. 1, and recommends that it pass Third Reading.
