A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

 

proposing an amendment to the constitution of the state of hawaii to provide individuals with the right to marry any human being and for that right not to be abridged by the state.

 

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

 


     SECTION 1.  Article 1 of the Constitution of the State of Hawaii is amended by adding a new section to be appropriately designated and to read as follows:

"MARITAL RIGHTS

     Section     .  Individuals shall have the right to marry any human being and this right shall not be abridged by the State."

     SECTION 2.  The question to be printed on the ballot shall be as follows:

    "Shall the State Constitution be amended to provide individuals with the right to marry any human being and for that right not to be abridged by the State?" 

     SECTION 3.  New constitutional material is underscored.

     SECTION 4.  This amendment shall take effect upon compliance with article XVII, section 3, of the Constitution of the State of Hawaii.
