A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

 

relating to capital improvement projects for the benefit of the eleventh senatorial district.

 

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

 

     SECTION 1.  The director of finance is authorized to issue general obligation bonds in the sum of $10,620,000 or so much thereof as may be necessary and the same sum or so much thereof as may be necessary is appropriated for fiscal year 2024-2025 for the purpose of capital improvement projects for the eleventh senatorial district, as follows:

1.   Lincoln Elementary School

     A.   Design and construction for electrical infrastructure upgrades to increase electrical capacity across the campus.

          Design                          $600,000

          Construction                  $1,400,000

          Total funding                         $2,000,000

     B.   Design and construction for parking lot and walking path.

          Design                          $250,000

          Construction                  $1,750,000

          Total funding                         $2,000,000

2.   Manoa Elementary School

     A.   Plans, design, construction, and equipment to upgrade existing communication system.

          Plans                           $100,000

          Design                          $100,000

          Construction                    $400,000

          Equipment                     $2,400,000

          Total funding                         $3,000,000

3.   Noelani Elementary School

     A.   Construction for covered walkways to portables 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5, and between the IDEA center and B-building.

          Construction                  $1,000,000

          Total funding                         $1,000,000

     B.   Construction for covered play court repairs.

          Construction                  $1,000,000

          Total funding                         $1,000,000

4.   Robert Louis Stevenson Middle School

     A.   Electrical infrastructure upgrade.

          Total funding                           $300,000

5.   Roosevelt High School

     A.   Plans and construction for campus asphalt resurfacing and restriping of lines from Mott-Smith entrance to E building, and parking lot lines.

          Plans                           $120,000

          Construction                  $1,200,000

          Total funding                         $1,320,000

     SECTION 2.  The appropriation made for the capital improvement projects authorized by this Act shall not lapse at the end of the fiscal biennium for which the appropriation is made; provided that all moneys from the appropriation unencumbered as of June 30, 2026, shall lapse as of that date.

     SECTION 3.  The sums appropriated for the respective capital improvement projects set forth in section 1 shall be expended for the purpose of this Act by the department of education.

     SECTION 4.  This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2024.
