A BILL FOR AN ACT

relatING to insurance FOR MOTOR VEHICLE RENTERS.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

SECTION 1. Chapter 437D, Hawaii Revised Statutes, is amended by adding a new section to be appropriately designated and to read as follows:

"§437D-   Optional coverage to be made available to lessees. (a) A lessor shall make available to a lessee, at the lessee's expense, the following optional coverages that the lessee may reject or purchase at the time of rental:

(1) Supplemental loss-damage waiver or collision damage waiver coverage;

(2) Liability coverage for death, bodily injury, and property damage above the minimum coverage amounts required by section 431:10C-301;

(3) Personal injury protection coverage above the minimum coverage amounts required by section 431:10C-301.5;

(4) Uninsured and underinsured motorist coverages, as provided in section 431:10C-301;

(5) Uninsured and underinsured motorist coverage stacking options, as provided in section 431:10C-301; and

(6) Required optional additional insurance coverages, as provided in section 431:10C-302."

SECTION 2. New statutory material is underscored.

SECTION 3. This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
