A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

 

RELATING TO CHILD CARE.

 

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

 


     SECTION 1.  Chapter 346, Hawaii Revised Statutes, is amended by adding a new section to part VIII to be appropriately designated and to read as follows:

     "§346-     Special circumstances; income eligibility.  When determining whether a parent, guardian, or other responsible party meets the income eligibility requirements for child care subsidies under this chapter and any rule adopted thereunder, the department shall consider special circumstances, including but not limited to the retroactive payment of workers' compensation or temporary disability insurance benefits to the parent, guardian, or other responsible party, that cause the monthly gross income of the parent, guardian, or other responsible party to exceed the eligible monthly gross income."

     SECTION 2.  New statutory material is underscored.

     SECTION 3.  This Act shall take effect on June 30, 3000.

Description:
