A BILL FOR AN ACT

RELATING TO EARLY LEARNING.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

SECTION 1. Chapter 302D, Hawaii Revised Statutes, is amended by adding a new section to be appropriately designated and to read as follows:

"§302D-    Prekinderdergarten-only public charter schools; exemptions. Prekindergarten-only public charter schools shall be exempt from the following sections:

(1) Section 302D-28(a),(c),(e), and (f), relating to funding and finance;

(2) Section 302D-29, relating to the use of the weighted student formula;

(3) Section 302D-31, relating to athletics;

(4) Section 302D-34(c), relating to enrollment;

(5) Section 302D-40, relating to computer science courses and content; and

(6) Section 302D-41, relating to enrollment in industry-credential programs."

SECTION 2. New statutory material is underscored.

SECTION 3. This Act shall take effect on July 1, 3000.

Exempts prekindergarten-only public charter schools from certain provisions affecting charter schools relating to funding and finance, the use of the weighted student formula, athletics, enrollment, computer science courses and content, and enrollment in industry-credential programs.
