A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

 

RELATING TO LEGISLATIVE ALLOWANCE.

 

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

 


     SECTION 1.  Section 24-1, Hawaii Revised Statutes, is amended to read as follows:

     "§24-1  Allowance for incidental expenses.  (a)  Each member of the legislature shall receive an annual allowance of $7,500[, which amount is] to cover incidental expenses connected with legislative duties [and the amount], which shall be payable in [a] the manner prescribed by the respective rules of each house; provided that when the legislative salary is increased, the legislative allowance shall be increased by the same percentage.

     (b)  Each house of the legislature shall post on the legislature's website, on an annual basis and in a manner prescribed by the respective rules of each house, a report of the legislative allowance expenditures for each member of the respective house."

     SECTION 2.  Statutory material to be repealed is bracketed and stricken.  New statutory material is underscored.

     SECTION 3.  This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
