      Status & Testimony

RELATING TO TRANSPORTATION.

Establishes registration requirements and driver's licensing requirements for operation of electric rickshaws.  Defines electric rickshaw.

      Status & Testimony

RELATING TO TRANSPORTATION.

Specifies that a certificate of inspection shall be issued if a vehicle is not equipped with a noisy muffler or exhaust system.  Requires rules regarding safety check inspections to ensure that a motorcycle, moped, or motor vehicle is not equipped with a noisy muffler or exhaust system.  Suspends, revokes, or refuses renewal of a permit for an official inspection station upon a third or subsequent wilful violation of any rule regarding inspecting a noisy muffler or exhaust system.  Makes violating the noisy muffler laws a petty misdemeanor.  Includes repairing or installing a noisy muffler or exhaust system as a prohibited practice for motor vehicle repair regulations.

      Status & Testimony

RELATING TO TRANSPORTATION.

Increases the minimum and maximum fines for violating provisions relating to the installation of noisy mufflers.  Authorizes police with probable cause to stop vehicles with noisy mufflers to inspect their mufflers.

      Status & Testimony

RELATING TO TRANSPORTATION.

Requires dealers selling new light trucks, including sports utility vehicles, pick-up trucks, and minivans, to disclose to prospective consumers that larger vehicles pose an increased danger to pedestrians.

RELATING TO COMMERCIAL MOTOR VEHICLE FINES.

Amends the law relating to vehicle weight violations by replacing the fine schedule and increasing the potential fines based on multitude and magnitude of vehicle weight violations.

RELATING TO COMMERCIAL MOTOR VEHICLE WEIGHT LIMITS.

Amends the law to become consistent with federal weight limits with respect to legal limits for gross vehicle weight and axle loads traveling on all public roadways.

RELATING TO MOTOR VEHICLES.

Requires dealers who sell new or used motor vehicles to display the projected lifetime operating cost of the vehicle with the listed purchase price.

RELATING TO PENALTIES.

Makes driving without a license a civil violation, punishable by fines of not less than $50 and not more than $300.

      Status & Testimony

RELATING TO MOTOR VEHICLES.

Requires condominium associations and planned community associations that have a service agreement with a towing company to maintain and provide to the towing company a "do not tow" list of authorized resident vehicles.  Prohibits authorized vehicles that are on the "do not tow" list from being towed, unless authorized by certain individuals.

RELATING TO PUBLIC TRANSIT.

Establishes the offense of interference with the operation of a public transit vehicle.

SB 1243

      Status & Testimony

RELATING TO TRAFFIC CONTROL.

Requires the Department of Transportation to authorize state and county traffic projects to make changes, as necessary, to traffic flow and mitigation efforts.  Prohibits contractors from charging additional fees to amend traffic flow and safety or mitigation efforts.  Requires the Department of Transportation to make a final determination on all changes to traffic flow and mitigation.

      Status & Testimony

RELATING TO SPEED LIMITS.

Clarifies that the engineering study required prior to the setting of a maximum speed limit shall not apply to reductions of maximum speed limits.

RELATING TO TRANSPORTATION.

Requires hourly peer-to-peer car sharing operators to insure the shared car at four times the personal injury protection benefit and basic liability coverage.
