The Committee will meet to continue the hearing started on Tuesday, February 7, 2023 on the measures listed below. The committee was unable to complete the hearing on Tuesday due to time constraints. Additional testimony will not be accepted

 

SB 1559

      Status & Testimony

PROPOSING AN AMENDMENT TO ARTICLE III, SECTION 15, OF THE HAWAII STATE CONSTITUTION TO ALLOW ELECTRONIC COPIES, AS AN ALTERNATIVE TO PRINTED COPIES, OF A BILL TO BE MADE AVAILABLE FOR MEMBERS OF A HOUSE IN WHICH THE BILL IS BEING VOTED UPON FOR THIRD OR FINAL READING IN FULFILLMENT OF THE FORTY-EIGHT HOUR AVAILABILITY REQUIREMENT.

Amends the State Constitution to allow electronic copies, as an alternative to printed copies, of a bill to be made available for members of a house in which the bill is being voted upon for third or final reading in fulfillment of the 48-hour availability requirement.

SB 1561

      Status & Testimony

PROPOSING AN AMENDMENT TO ARTICLE II, SECTION 1, OF THE HAWAII STATE CONSTITUTION TO CHANGE THE AGE QUALIFICATION FOR VOTING IN STATE OR LOCAL ELECTIONS.

Proposes a constitutional amendment to allow citizens who are seventeen years of age but will be eighteen years of age on or before the next general election to vote at the primary election immediately preceding the general election by which the citizen will attain the age of eighteen and any intervening or co-occurring special election.

SB 1563

      Status & Testimony

PROPOSING AN AMENDMENT TO ARTICLE IV, SECTION 2, OF THE HAWAII STATE CONSTITUTION TO ADD TWO MEMBERS TO THE REAPPORTIONMENT COMMISSION TO REPRESENT CITIZEN ORGANIZATIONS.

Proposes a constitutional amendment to add two members to the Reapportionment Commission, representing citizen organizations, to be appointed by the Chief Justice.
