HOUSE RESOLUTION
requesting the department of parks and recreation of the city and county of honolulu to restore the field of Maunawili Valley NEIGHBORHOOD Park and develop a plan to restore the entire park.
WHEREAS, Hawaii's natural resources provide irreplaceable and invaluable benefits to residents and visitors; and
WHEREAS, parks create a space for communities to congregate safely for gatherings or outdoor recreation while preserving the natural environment unique to the area; and
WHEREAS, residents and visitors deserve and are attracted to safe and well-maintained parks; and
WHEREAS, located in Kailua, Maunawili Valley Neighborhood Park is a public space that is open to the general public and offers outdoor recreation and nature preservation; and
WHEREAS, various environmental changes, including the encroachment of invasive grass, have left Maunawili Valley Neighborhood Park's field unsuitable to safely host sports events and activities; and the entire park area needs to be restored in order to enable residents and visitors to safely recreate there; now, therefore,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Department of Parks and Recreation of the City and County of Honolulu is requested to develop a plan to restore the entire Maunawili Valley Neighborhood Park area to be usable and safe for the community; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a certified copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the Director of the Department of Parks and Recreation of the City and County of Honolulu.
