HOUSE CONCURRENT
RESOLUTION
Urging the federal aviation administration and hawaii's congressional delegation to take any actions necessary to establish an air traffic control tower at lanai airport.
WHEREAS, as both general aviation and commercial aircraft traffic increase, managing and separating air traffic flows becomes increasingly important; and
WHEREAS, to that end, air traffic control towers have been established at airports throughout the world to ensure the safe, orderly, and efficient flow of traffic on and around the airport; and
WHEREAS, the Federal Aviation Administration is authorized to establish or discontinue air traffic control towers through the National Airspace System if activity levels and safety considerations justify the action; and
WHEREAS, Lanai Airport served more than one hundred thousand passengers during the year ending December 2022; and
WHEREAS, nevertheless, Lanai Airport lacks an air traffic control tower; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the House of Representatives of the Thirty-second Legislature of the State of Hawaii, Regular Session of 2023, the Senate concurring, that the Federal Aviation Administration and Hawaii's congressional delegation are urged to take any actions necessary to establish an air traffic control tower at Lanai airport; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that certified copies of this Concurrent Resolution be transmitted to the Administrator of the Federal Aviation Administration and the members of Hawaii's congressional delegation.
