A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

 

relating to government accountability.

 

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

 


     SECTION 1.  Chapter 26, Hawaii Revised Statutes, is amended by adding a new section to be appropriately designated and to read as follows:

     "§26-     Establishment of programs; reports.  Any department or agency that establishes a funded program in accordance with an Act of the State shall submit a report on the program to the legislature no later than one year following the passage of the Act.  The report to the legislature shall include:

     (1)  All revenues, expenditures, and encumbrances for the program;

     (2)  The number of employees hired to staff the program;

     (3)  If the program was implemented within the year in which the enabling Act was passed; and

     (4)  Future plans for the program."

     SECTION 2.  New statutory material is underscored.

     SECTION 3.  This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
