Office of Senator DeCoite
Public Contacts Regarding Axis Deer

Aloha Senate District 7 Ohana!
I know the rampant numbers of Axis Deer has been an ongoing issue for our communities. Many of you have asked who to call about the deer on the road, near your home, etc.

In collaboration with State and County agencies, my office has put together a list for you and your neighbors with contact information on who to contact regarding Axis Deer.

I hope you find this information helpful.

Senator DeCoite's
End of Session - Legislative Newsletter

May 2022

Aloha District 7 Ohana,

I hope you all are doing well as we ease back into somewhat "normal" routines from these past two years under COVID-19 protocols. It's been a long road and while we are all ready to end restrictions, please still stay vigilant about the COVID counts in your area so you can decide what protocols you and your ohana should follow.

This session at the Capitol was like no other with the legislature blending virtual and in person hearings along with welcoming members of the public back to the building. This also marked my first session as a Senator and as both Vice Chair of the Senate Committee on Public Safety, Intergovernmental, and Military Affairs (PSM) and Senate Majority Floor leader.

Mahalo to so many of you for taking the time to contact my office with your positions and concerns about the bills this session. Hearing directly from all of you helps guide my votes and decisions on bills and policies. Please continue to send me your thoughts and concerns, it's never too early to prepare for next session.

I've been honored to represent our community and it continues to be a privilege to serve as your State Senator. I look forward to seeing you and your ohana when I'm out in the district at one of the many upcoming (in person) events. And please remember that my staff and I are just a phone call or email away if you have any questions or concerns on State related matters.

Mahalo nui loa,
Senator Lynn DeCoite, District 7

Do you have Unclaimed Property??

Dear District 13 Ohana,

Did you know State of Hawaii holds unclaimed property as a custodian for the rightful owner? Have you checked to see if you have Unclaimed Property? Many of us do and don’t even realize it. Some have a few cents to a few hundred or even a few thousand Dollars $$$. It is very easy to check and you can do it yourself from home. Please use the information on this card (Attached) to check to see if you, your family members or even your business/organization (past or present) have any Unclaimed property. The list is updated every year. If you do have unclaimed property is it very easy to fill out the forms and get them turned to the Unclaimed Property office. No fees and no lawyers needed. Feel free to contact my office if you have any questions or if I can be of service to you. Unclaimed Property Information

Evacuation Shelters for District 13

Aloha District 13,

With the Hurricanes happening on the Mainland many of you have asked about the Hurricane evacuation areas for our district.
My office called and spoke with the Maui Emergency Management Office. They confirmed that the list of emergency shelters listed on www.MauiReady.org is the most updated list.
The office also mentioned that for each “event” these shelters may change. They also mentioned that there is always at least one shelter that is Pet Friendly (the most common question they are asked) and that the location(s) of those shelters would be announced in the days leading up to the “event”.

They also suggested checking the www.MauiReady.org website. This website is maintained by the Maui DOH office and the Maui Emergency Management Office and is updated regularly.
Here is the Maui Ready shelter list: https://mauiready.org/emergency-shelter-locations/ Here is the Maui Ready Hurricane info page: https://mauiready.org/be-informed-2/hurricanes/
