Senator Riviere has served in the Senate since 2014 and previously served in the House of Representatives from 2010–2012. He is a member of the Senate Committees on Commerce and Consumer Protection (CPN); Energy, Economic Development, and Tourism (EET); Public Safety, Intergovernmental and Military Affairs (PSM); and Water and Land (WTL).

As the District 23 Senator, his legislative priorities are to improve our roadways, protect and preserve our environment, encourage agriculture and food production, support responsible development, and enhance educational and cultural programs.

As a strong advocate for agriculture and the protection of rural lands within the 23rd District, he is known as someone who gets the job done - he is involved and sees projects through completion, and he finds creative solutions while effectively working with others. When there is a critical issue, he steps up and becomes part of the solution through his efforts, creativity, and leadership.

Senator Riviere is grounded with the loving support of his wife, Liz, and their two children. Residing in Waialua, the family is regularly seen participating in community activities at local ballparks, the library, and businesses throughout the district.
