Representative Roy M. Takumi has served as an elected member of the Hawaii State House of Representatives since 1993. He represents Hawaii's 35th House district which includes the portions of Pearl City, Manana, Waipahu, Waipio and Crestview. Representative Takumi presently serves as a member of the Housing, Judiciary and Hawaiian Affairs, and Transportation committees. Representative Takumi had previously served as Chair on the Committees on Consumer Protection and Commerce; Education; Higher Education; Ocean Recreation and Marine Resources; and Intergovernmental Relations and International Affairs.Born and raised in Hawaii, he credits his parents for teaching him family values of hard work, fairness and respect for others. Working experiences have taught him that people everywhere share the same hopes and dreams for their families. He also learned that decisions that affect people's lives must be made at the community level, not from the top down. Rep. Takumi is a strong advocate for working families. He supports raising the minimum wage, providing workers with paid family medical leave, and policies that uplift the economic, social, and emotional well-being of the people of Hawaii.
