Representative Kaniela Saito Ing was born-and-raised in Hawaii and was first elected in 2012 at the age of 23. He currently serves as Majority Policy Leader and the Chair of the committee on Ocean, Marine Resources & Hawaiian Affairs. Ing is the youngest legislator to hold a leadership role.

Ing self-identifies as progressive, pro-choice, and a feminist. He fights to shift power from the privileged few to the many, act on climate change, and build a future economy that leaves no one behind.

Rep. Ing attended public schools, Kamehameha Schools Maui, Maui Community College, the University of Hawaii at Manoa, and American University in Washington D.C. for graduate school. He served on the Neighborhood Board as a member in Liliha and has worked in various roles in the community with business, government, and the non-profit sectors.
