      Status & Testimony

RELATING TO ELECTIONS.

Changes the deadline to file nomination papers for public office from the first Tuesday in June to the first Tuesday in May for certain elections.

RELATING TO OPERATING A VEHICLE UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF AN INTOXICANT.

Excludes habitually operating a vehicle under the influence of an intoxicant from qualifying for deferred acceptance of guilty plea or nolo contendere plea.

RELATING TO VACANCIES.

Amends the manner in which a vacancy in the membership of the State Senate is filled and certain time frames relevant thereto.

RELATING TO POLITICAL ADVERTISEMENTS.

Requires printed and electronic political advertising to prominently display candidate-approval language on each page.  Increases the fine for violations.

      Status & Testimony

RELATING TO ELECTIONS.

Allows the elections commission to refer a complaint to the attorney general or county prosecutor in addition to any administrative determination and without the requirement that the commission believes the respondent has recklessly, knowingly, or intentionally committed a violation.  Disqualifies a person convicted of violating elections criminal prosecution laws from holding elective public office for ten years rather than four.  Repeals language stipulating that elections criminal prosecution law does not apply to any persons who has paid or agrees to pay fines related to report filing violations and advertisement violations prior to the commencement of the proceedings.

SB 738

      Status & Testimony

RELATING TO SCHEDULE I SUBSTANCES.

Removes psilocybin and psilocyn from the list of Schedule I substances.  Requires the Department of Health to establish designated treatment centers for the therapeutic administration of psilocybin and psilocyn.  Establishes a review panel to review and assess the effects of this measure.

SB 157

      Status & Testimony

RELATING TO LICENSING.

Authorizes the issuance of a civil license to solemnize marriage and allows solemnization by any individual at least eighteen years of age.

SB 159

      Status & Testimony

RELATING TO VOTING.

Requires any person who is eligible to vote and applies for a motor vehicle driver's license or identification card to be automatically registered to vote unless the applicant affirmatively declines.  Allows an applicant to affirmatively decline to have any of the applicant's information electronically transmitted. Authorizes access to and electronic transmission of databases maintained or operated by the counties or the department of transportation that contains driver's license or identification card information to election officials and the online voter registration system.

SB 189

      Status & Testimony

RELATING TO DOG BITES.

Removes the requirement to prove that the dog has bitten on two separate occasions for dog bite victims to bring legal action against a dog's owner.

      Status & Testimony

RELATING TO POLITICAL ADVERTISING.

Prohibits the microtargeting of political advertisements on television and social media based on online behavioral data, demographic characteristics, and geographic location below the electoral district level.
