      Status & Testimony

RELATING TO THE TRANSIENT ACCOMMODATIONS TAX.

Revises county allocations of transient accommodations tax revenues to reflect the growth in population of each respective county.  Effective 7/1/2021.

RELATING TO THE TRANSIENT ACCOMMODATIONS TAX.

Provides for a mechanism to adjust the transient accommodations tax rate based on visitor arrivals for a calendar year.  Requires the director of department of business, economic development and tourism to determine and publish visitor arrivals annually.

SB 596

      Status & Testimony

RELATING TO THE HAWAII TOURISM AUTHORITY.

Repeals the provision that allowed each member to hold office until the member's successor is appointed and qualified and instead prohibits holdover board members from holding office beyond the end of the second regular session following the expiration of the member's term of office.

RELATING TO ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT.

Appropriates unspecified funds for economic development.     Effective 7/1/2050.

SB 243

      Status & Testimony

RELATING TO RENEWABLE ENERGY.

Requires the Governor; Department of Business, Economic Development, and Tourism; and the Hawaii State Energy Office to develop a strategic plan that outlines benchmarks to achieve a 100% renewable energy portfolio standard.  Requires the Department of Business, Economic Development, and Tourism to submit the strategic plan to the Legislature before the Regular Session of 2023.  Requires the Hawaii Natural Energy Institute to conduct a feasibility study on the State's ability to achieve its renewable energy goals by 2045.  Appropriates funds.
