Status

RELATING TO COFFEE PEST CONTROL.

Extends the sunset date for the coffee berry borer pesticide subsidy program and the program manager position, including the position's civil service and collective bargaining laws exemption, to 06/30/2024.  Provides that no single coffee grower shall receive more than $6,000 for each pest per year in subsidies between 06/30/2021, and 07/01/2023.

RELATING TO THE DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION.

Requires the auditor to audit the department of education's school food services branch to determine how much local produce is being purchased and served to students.  Effective 7/1/2050.  (HD1)

RELATING TO FOOD SECURITY.

Establishes the Hawaii food security initiative program within the department of agriculture.

RELATING TO AGRICULTURAL LANDS.

Requires the procurement policy board to adopt rules for criteria that will provide preference to small businesses for the use of state agricultural lands to promote the growth and development of small businesses.  Effective 7/1/2112.  (HD1)

Status

RELATING TO HEALTH.

Establishes a task force to review and recommend specific actions to ensure that Hawaii's food imports are sourced, transported, stored, and distributed in compliance with the federal Food Safety Modernization Act; and develop specific recommendations to ensure that all foods and brands imported into Hawaii do not mislead or confuse the public.

Status

RELATING TO THE AGRIBUSINESS DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION.

Dissolves the agribusiness development corporation and transfers all lands and staff, except for the executive director, to the department of agriculture.

DECISION MAKING TO FOLLOW

 

Persons wishing to offer comments should submit testimony at least 24 hours prior to the hearing.  Testimony received after this time will be stamped late and left to the discretion of the chair to consider.  While every effort will be made to incorporate all testimony received, materials received on the day of the hearing or improperly identified or directed, may not be processed.

 

Testimony submitted will be placed on the legislative website.  This public posting of testimony on the website should be considered when including personal information in your testimony.

 

The chair may institute a per-testifier time limit.

 

Committees meeting in the morning must adjourn prior to the day's Floor Session.  Therefore, due to time constraints, not all testifiers may be provided an opportunity to offer verbal comments.  However, remote testitfiers' written submissions will be considered by the committee.

 

Please refrain from profanity or uncivil behavior.  Violations may result in ejection from the hearing without the ability to rejoin.
