COM. REP. NO. 291-20
Honolulu, Hawaii
, 2020
RE: H.B. No. 2670
Honorable Scott K. Saiki
Speaker, House of Representatives
Thirtieth State Legislature
Regular Session of 2020
State of Hawaii
Sir:
Your Committee on Judiciary, to which was referred H.B. No. 2670 entitled:
"A BILL FOR AN ACT RELATING TO CHILD SUPPORT ENFORCEMENT,"
begs leave to report as follows:
The purpose of this measure is to make every judgment for child support, including a judgment for reimbursement or other arrears, enforceable until paid in full regardless of the recipient's age.
Your Committee received testimony in support of this measure from one individual.
Your Committee finds that judgments for child support should be enforceable until paid in full instead of requiring judgments to be presumed paid and discharged on the thirty-third birthday of the child for which the order of support was rendered or by the expiration of the latest period provided for in a domestic judgment or decree, whichever is later.
As affirmed by the record of votes of the members of your Committee on Judiciary that is attached to this report, your Committee is in accord with the intent and purpose of H.B. No. 2670 and recommends that it pass Second Reading and be referred to your Committee on Finance.
Respectfully submitted on behalf of the members of the Committee on Judiciary,
|
