Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred H.B. No. 2511, H.D. 1, entitled:

"A BILL FOR AN ACT RELATING TO CHARTER SCHOOLS,"

begs leave to report as follows:

The purpose of this measure is to:

(1) Provide funding for the rental or lease of facilities through legislative appropriations and bond authorizations to the State Public Charter School Commission (Commission); and

(2) Appropriate funds to the Commission for infrastructure costs, lease or rent assistance, and the repair and maintenance of network infrastructure for charter schools.

Your Committee received testimony in support of this measure from the Board of Education, State Public Charter School Commission, Office of Hawaiian Affairs, Hawaii State Teachers Association, Democratic Party of Hawaii Education Caucus, and ten individuals.

As affirmed by the record of votes of the members of your Committee on Finance that is attached to this report, your Committee is in accord with the intent and purpose of H.B. No. 2511, H.D. 1, and recommends that it pass Third Reading.
