RELATING TO UNIVERSITY OF HAWAII REVENUE BONDS.

Authorizes the University of Hawaii to issue $100,000,000 in revenue bonds for the purpose of financing the construction and maintenance of qualifying capital improvement projects.

RELATING TO THE INSTITUTE FOR ASTRONOMY.

Transfers administrative authority, personnel, and facilities for the University of Hawaii Institute for Astronomy currently located at the University of Hawaii at Manoa to the University of Hawaii at Hilo.

Establishes a college savings program income tax credit.

Establishes a senior citizen higher education access pilot program at the University of Hawaii at Hilo.  Requires a report to the Legislature before the Regular Session of 2024.

RELATING TO THE UNIVERSITY OF HAWAII COLLEGE OF TROPICAL AGRICULTURE AND HUMAN RESOURCES COOPERATIVE EXTENSION SERVICE.

Appropriates funds to the UH college of tropical agriculture and human resources cooperative extension service for one full-time ornamental plant extension agent.

Status

RELATING TO THE UNIVERSITY OF HAWAII.

Provides for the planning and design of the relocation of the University of Hawaii Maui College culinary arts program to Lahaina.  Requires that the Chancellor work with hotels, resorts, and landowners of adjacent properties to develop a plan.  Makes an appropriation.

RELATING TO RAT LUNGWORM DISEASE.

Appropriates funds to the University of Hawaii at Hilo, the department of health, department of land and natural resources, and department of agriculture for programs, studies, and activities related to rat lungworm disease.

RELATING TO THE REGENTS CANDIDATE ADVISORY COUNCIL.

Expands the candidate advisory council for the board of regents of the University of Hawaii from seven to eight members to make the member of the Association of Emeritus Regents of the University of Hawaii a voting member.  Specifies term conditions.

Testimony submitted will be placed on the legislative website.  This public posting of testimony on the website should be considered when including personal information in your testimony.
