A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

 

relating to capital improvement projects for the benefit of THE nineteenth SENATORIAL DISTRICT.

 

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

 


     SECTION 1.  The director of finance is authorized to issue general obligation bonds in the sum of $23,245,000 or so much thereof as may be necessary, and the same sum or so much thereof as may be necessary is appropriated for fiscal year 2018-2019 for the purpose of capital improvement projects for the nineteenth senatorial district, as follows:

1.   James Campbell High School

     A.   Plans for a campus master plan, including athletic facilities, ground and site improvements, and equipment and appurtenances.

     B.   Design for a synthetic track.

          Design                       $2,000,000

          Total funding                               $2,000,000

2.   Ilima Intermediate School

     A.   Design and construction for air conditioning of all classrooms, ground and site improvements, and equipment and appurtenances.

          Design                         $800,000

          Construction                 $5,000,000

          Total funding                               $5,800,000

     B.   Design, construction, and equipment for cafeteria improvements, ground and site improvements, and equipment and appurtenances.

          Design                         $140,000

          Construction                 $1,000,000

          Equipment                       $60,000

          Total funding                               $1,200,000

     C.   Design and construction for restroom improvements, ground and site improvements, and equipment and appurtenances.

          Design                         $200,000

          Construction                 $1,000,000

          Total funding                               $1,200,000

     D.   Design, construction, and equipment for building G, administration, renovations, ground and site improvements, and equipment and appurtenances.

          Design                         $150,000

          Construction                   $650,000

          Equipment                       $50,000

          Total funding                                 $850,000

     E.   Construction and equipment for new building to support sixth grade, ground and site improvements, and equipment and appurtenances.

          Design                       $9,600,000

          Construction                   $400,000

3.   Ewa Makai Middle School

     A.   Design and construction to address air conditioning and air quality needs of medically fragile students, ground and site improvements, and equipment and appurtenances.

          Design                          $25,000

          Construction                   $250,000

          Total funding                                 $275,000

4.   Iroquois Point Elementary School

     A.   Design and construction for a shade structure, ground and site improvements, and equipment and appurtenances.

          Design                         $120,000

          Construction                   $550,000

          Total funding                                 $670,000

5.   Pohakea Elementary School

     A.   Design and construction for outdoor learning improvements with water connection, ground and site improvements, and equipment and appurtenances.

          Design                          $30,000

          Construction                   $220,000

          Total funding                                 $250,000

     SECTION 2.  The appropriations made for the capital improvement projects authorized by this Act shall not lapse at the end of the fiscal year for which the appropriations are made; provided that all moneys from the appropriations that are unencumbered as of June 30, 2020, shall lapse as of that date.

     SECTION 3.  The sums appropriated for the respective capital improvement projects set forth in section 1 shall be expended by the department of education.

     SECTION 4.  This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2018.
