RELATING TO MEMORIALS.

Appropriates funds for the planning and design of a memorial to honor service members of the recent conflicts in the Persian Gulf, Iraq, Afghanistan, and the various theaters of the Global War on Terrorism, to be located at the Hawaii State Veterans Cemetery in Kaneohe, on the island of Oahu, and replicas of the memorial to be located at state veterans cemeteries statewide.

RELATING TO FILIPINO VETERANS.

Appropriates funds for the Hawaii State Foundation on Culture and the Arts to commission an artist to design and build a monument at the Filipino Community Center in Waipahu, Oahu, that honors Filipino veterans of World War II.

RELATING TO FILIPINO VETERANS BURIAL ASSISTANCE.

Appropriates funds for burial grants for qualifying Filipino-American veterans to provide funeral and burial services and transportation of their remains to the Philippines; provided that federal funds remain unavailable and there remain eligible Filipino-American veterans living in the State.

Status

RELATING TO CIVIL RELIEF FOR STATE MILITARY FORCES.

Conforms Chapter 657D, Hawaii Revised Statutes, concerning civil relief for state military forces to the federal Servicemember's Civil Relief Act.  Waives filing fees and court costs for a service member or other person seeking to enforce rights pursuant to Chapter 657D.

RELATING TO HOUSING.

Prohibits discrimination in the rental of real property based on a veteran's use of HUD-VASH vouchers.

Persons wishing to offer comments should submit testimony at least 24 hours prior to the hearing.  Testimony should indicate:
