"A BILL FOR AN ACT RELATING TO HAWAII HEALTH SYSTEMS
CORPORATION,"

The purpose of this measure is to
address the shortage of primary care providers in the State by appropriating
funds for the Interdisciplinary Hawaii Health Systems Corporation Primary Care
Training Program at Hilo Medical Center.
The Hawaii Health Systems
Corporation; East Hawaii Region of Hawaii Health Systems Corporation; Council member
from District 8 of the Hawaii County Council; Council member from District 4 of
the Hawaii County Council; Council member from District 3 of the Hawaii County
Council; Kona-Kohala Chamber of Commerce; Hilo Medical Center Foundation Board;
Zonta Club of Hilo; The Queen's Health Systems; United Public Workers, AFSCME
Local 646, AFL-CIO; Hawaii Health Systems Corporation Primary Care Training
Program; and numerous individuals testified in support of this measure. An
individual commented on this measure.
As affirmed by the record of votes of the members of
your Committee on Finance that is attached to this report, your Committee is in
accord with the intent and purpose of H.B. No. 847, H.D. 1, and recommends that
it pass Third Reading.
